Phillip the Bear

If you pass close to shore after you go through the no wake zone at the Northwestern tip of Bear Island you might see a bear carving in the woods on Bear Island.  This is "Phillip the Bear" in memory of Stetson Laronde, whose favorite times of his eight summers were spent on Bear Island and of all others who have love the beauty and tranquility of this special place.
